ATEX training conference

NTD organises a training conference regarding the ATEX standards and marking.

ATEX training conference

NUEVAS TÉCNICAS DE DISPERSIÓN arranged a conference on June the 7th in order to train its employees in terms of ATEX safety standards (explosive atmospheres) and inform about the standards change that concerns equipment. Some of our clients were present as well.

For such purpose an expert from Italy was invited, he is the sales director in a company from Lombard that manufactures and supplies protections, fittings and electrical equipment suitable for hazardous zones. Two presentations were made:

On the one hand, there was an introductory presentation about the concepts and standards ATEX that gathers minimal requirements for the health and safety in the European Union that can be complemented after with existing standards in every country.

Concepts such as the definition of explosive atmosphere and its explosion limit, and terms such as flash point and ignition temperature were addressed. Later, we explained the classification of the equipment according to their level of protection (normal, high and very high), the gas and dust classification and the equipment protection level of non-electrical equipment based on the EPL introduced in 2007 at an international level.

On the other hand there was another equally interesting: the basic method and requirements for the marking of non-electrical equipment and the standards change from EN13463 TO EN ISO 80079-36 and 37.

Aspects such as the need for having an ATEX certificate according to the zone classification, the equipment category and their components were addressed. We spoke about the differences between documents, the former one and the current one, in several parts and the 3 years period for the transition, from august 2016 and the 31 of October of 2019.

For NTD it is very important to be updated in terms of safety. Part of the machines that we manufacture are located in hazardous zones, where the ignition and explosion risk exists due to the gas and dust produced in the manufacturing of the chemical products, the main purpose for which our clients use our machines.
